How to Stay Motivated to Workout at Home

fitness Mar 07, 2019

Have you ever felt like you're not a home-workout kind of girl?

Have you tried to sweat on with a DVD in your living room unsuccessfully ?

With all of life’s distractions and challenges at home, I know that prioritizing everything else than your wellness is all we often have time for.

And let's just say it.... getting motivated to workout at home on your own is a challenge!

I get it! I too often fall into these traps of busyness or focusing solely on the things to do, family, work, or I just want to sit on the couch and watch the Office on Netflix ! But here's the thing, it doesn’t bring me happiness.

This is a topic I am really passionate about because working out from home is the best way to practice self discipline. And self discipline is the key to success in life.

I remember how empowering it was to develop this habit. It boosted my self esteem and my work ethic. Work and consistency definitely equal success. Plus, it's so much more than just working out ! It's about realizing that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

Now it's your turn to discover the range of your abilities. Behind all the “I can't,” there is so much potential waiting to be tapped. Yes, you can! And with time, yes you will! Start with believing in yourself, and practice self discipline.

Guidelines to Stay Motivated

  1. Reset your mindset

Make a list of all the advantages of working out from home. Hints, you can squeeze a workout whenever, you can wear whatever you want and you're saving so much time. With the right mindset anything is possible!

  2. Set motivational goal

Before you get started, grab a pen and paper and write your goals down. Think long term and short term. Describe how you want to feel and the benefits you will gain if you put in the work and achieve your goals. Make your goal meaningful, when you know your why you can survive any almost any how.

  3. Schedule it

If it's important to you, schedule it. Look at your crazy busy calendar and proactively schedule in your workouts.  Stick to that schedule as well as you can. No more excuses!

  4. Set alarms

If you need a reminder to start this new habit, set an alarm on your phone. This will remind you to take time for your well-being. Try it!

  5. Use power phrases

Affirmations are so important. It sounds simple and clichéd bullshit, but it works! Tell yourself everyday "I can and I will" Or "I am limitless". Have fun with this.

  6. Find your tribe

Your friends should motivate and inspire you, your circle should want to see you win! Discover new friends, even if virtual, to motivate and inspire you. Build a new circle of Fit Friends who want to see you win!

  7. Track your progress

Tracking progress is easy with a journal or an app. Keep notes about how you felt during each workout, how many reps you did, etc. This will show you how far you've come already. Don't forget to celebrate your wins!

You can do this ! Remember, strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t.
